Five star Livingston bounce back from penalty shoot-out defeat in style

Livingston recovered from their Viaplay Cup penalty shoot-out loss to Hamilton at the weekend in style as they rattled five past Cove Rangers on Tuesday night.

The hosts had the better of the early stages before Livi grew into the contest and it appeared only a matter of time before they opened the scoring. That duly arrived just before the break as Tom Parkes latched onto an Ayo Obileye assist to head home.

Obileye went from provider to finisher 10 minutes after the break, nodding home from a James Penrice delivery while the contest was all but over just shy of the hour mark when Bruce Anderson made it two goals in as many games with a fine strike.

Substitute Stephen Kelly produced a fine late cameo with two well-taken goals in the final 10 minutes. He curled home the first from distance after being teed up by Kurtis Guthrie before volleying home his second in injury-time to complete the scoring.

The result keeps the club's hopes of reaching the last-16 for a seventh straight season alive after they had suffered a penalty loss to Hamilton at the weekend. A win over Clyde in Saturday's final game would see the Lions jump to the summit if Accies lost to Cove at home. However, with Livi currently sitting on a goal difference of +8, three points would almost certainly see them progress as one of the three best runners-up.
