Fit-again Bok lock Snyman in Munster's squad for two-game SA tour

Springbok lock RG Snyman features in Munster's 31-man travelling squad that departed for South Africa ahead of the two final URC rounds of the regular season.

The towering lock - who has been plagued with injury since joining the Irish province - featured in their 50-35 loss to the Sharks in the Champions Cup playoffs earlier this month. Snyman looked in good form, showing great skills with ball in hand with a few deft touches.

Snyman will be eager to continue his quest to make the 2023 Springbok World Cup squad when Munster run out against Stormers in Cape Town and Sharks in Durban over the next two weekends.

Players and management arrived in Cape Town on Tuesday as preparations continued for Saturday's Round 17 game against the Stormers.

Eighteen forwards and 13 backs made the trip with Munster's 23-man matchday squad to be named on Friday.

Keith Earls, Jeremy Loughman, and Academy players Mark Donnelly, Edwin Edogbo and Jack Oliver have been included in the travelling group after overcoming respective injuries.

Following the most recent trip to Durban, Niall Scannell, Roman Salanoa, John Hodnett and Paddy Patterson were ruled out and not available to travel.

Hooker Danny Sheahan, who was involved for the Ireland U19s in France on Saturday and recently enjoyed Six Nations Grand Slam success with the Ireland U20s, has been included in the travelling squad. The national talent squad player just turned 19 and is playing his club rugby with UCC this season.
