First Time In 48 Years! Jasprit Bumrah Achieves Historic First For India In Cricket World Cup

Jasprit Bumrah became the first Indian cricket team bowler to take a wicket on the very first ball of a team innings during a Cricket World Cup match. During the Cricket World Cup 2023 match against Sri Lanka, Bumrah produced the perfect first delivery as Pathum Nissanka was trapped LBW. The delivery moved rapidly away from the batter and it hit Nissanka high on the pads. The umpire gave it out but Sri Lanka went for a review and it confirmed the fact that the delivery was clipping the bails on the left stump. When it comes to the Cricket World Cup, no Indian bowler has ever achieved this feat.

Virat Kohli once again missed out on a record equalling 49th ODI hundred but Indian batters made merry on a flat deck to score a mammoth 357 for 8 against Sri Lanka.

Kohli (88 off 94 balls), who previously missed out on equalling Sachin Tendulkar's 49th ODI ton, against New Zealand in Dharamsala, enjoyed a 189-run second wicket stand with his heir apparent Shubman Gill, who looked a million dollars during his run-a-ball 92.
