First Ajax player rules out following Erik ten Hag to Manchester United

Ajax star Sebastien Haller has become the first player to rule out following his manager to Manchester United.

The Ivorian has been an inspired signing by the 52-year-old, scoring 46 goals in 63 appearances, including 20 in 28 league appearances this term. The striker has previously played in the Premier League, struggling at West Ham before a cut-price exit to the Eredivisie.

Ten Hag will swap Holland for England in the summer after being appointed as the next permanent United manager. The Dutchman has been tasked with bringing success back to the Theatre of Dreams and a summer squad overall is expected.

But Ajax's prolific goalscorer Haller has ruled out a move of his own, telling NOS Voetbal: "Of course, there is interest from clubs. But I always say: interest is something different than an offer and a transfer is something else.

"If I’ve learned anything from the past, it’s that you can’t plan. We’ll see what happens or not.

"Live life, take your chances and enjoy every moment. Then you’ll see."

When asked about joining Ten Hag in Manchester, Haller responded: "Haha, no I won’t follow him. I feel good here at the club and in the city."
