Fire crews rush to crash on busy Tameside road

Fire crews raced to the scene of a crash after two cars collided in Tameside on Monday afternoon.

Two fire engines were called to the accident at the junction of Manchester Road and Lord Sheldon Way in Tameside at around 2pm, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said.

Crews assessed one casualty at the scene, the service added. It is unclear whether anyone was seriously injured.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Shortly after 2pm this afternoon (Monday, 3 June), two fire engines from Ashton-under-Lyne and Stalybridge fire stations, and the Technical Response Unit from Ashton-under-Lyne, were called to attend a road traffic collision involving two cars on the junction of Manchester Road and Lord Sheldon Way, Tameside.

“Crews arrived quickly, assessed one casualty at the scene and made the area safe before departing after approximately 35 minutes in attendance.”
