LIVE: Firefighters respond to huge building fire near town centre
Firefighters are responding to a large fire near to Rochdale town centre.
The blaze broke out at a building in Summer Street shortly before 2pm today (Saturday). Pictures shared on social media show thick plumes of black smoke issuing from the property.
Footage from the scene also shows firefighters attempting to douse the flames. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said, “Just before 2pm today (Saturday, 22nd June), firefighters were called to reports of a fire at a commercial property on Summer Street in Rochdale.
“Eight fire engines from Rochdale, Heywood, Littleborough, Oldham, Hollins, Blackley and Ashton fire stations are currently at the scene with crews working hard to make the area safe.”
