Feyenoord boss admits he expected more from Arsenal loanee Reiss Nelson amid "struggles"

Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has admitted he's concerned about Reiss Nelson's form since he joined them on loan last August.

The Arsenal forward, 22, has scored just one goal and produced one assist in 18 games for the Dutch giants this season.

Much was expected of Nelson following his impressive loan spell at Hoffenheim in 2018-19, scoring seven goals for the German outfit.

He's also done well in England, making 22 appearances in all competitions during the 2019-20 campaign to help Arsenal win the FA Cup.

"I did notice that against NEC, he looked for his direct opponent when he had the ball, which was lacking in the game with Vitesse.

"I think Reiss is much more of a preparer than a finisher, and I’m convinced he’ll show he can do better."

Feyenoord, who last won the Eredivisie five years ago, are hoping to regain their title this season.

The 1970 European champions are currently third in the table - six points behind champions Ajax - and
