Fernando Alonso sparks hilarious reaction as Spanish TV programme learns he's blocked them live on air

Fernando Alonso has unexpectedly sparked some comedy gold on Spanish TV, with sports show El Chiringuito learning live on air that the Alpine driver and double Formula 1 world champion has blocked them on Twitter.

Alonso kicked off the season at the Bahrain Grand Prix last weekend with a solid performance, as he finished inside the points in 9th place.

Indeed, it was a good weekend all-round for Alpine, as Esteban Ocon came home in 7th to secure a double points finish.

‘El Plan’ has begun, then, with Alonso hoping that this season will allow Alpine to be more competitive towards the front of the field in time, as he bids to get back on the podium more after a long-awaited return to it at the Qatar GP towards the end of last season.

El Chiringuito are going to find it harder to track his progress than others, though, with them learning – much to their surprise – that Alonso had blocked them on Twitter.

Indeed, the fun all starts when they look to see if the Spaniard simply follows them on the social media channel, before it becomes clear he’s actually blocked them.

The panel’s reaction is hilarious, with a number of amusing lines delivered over the course of the clip, which you can check out on Twitter now via El Chiringuito’s English account:

It’s surprising how the most mundane of things can be funny, but you have to give credit to El Chiringuito to turning this into something absolutely worth watching.

Who knows, maybe off of the back of it Fernando will unblock them!
