Chatham Town play Whitehawk in Isthmian South East for the second time in four days – Kevin Hake’s men welcome Hawks to the Bauvill Stadium after battling weekend draw

Chatham Town have another shot at Whitehawk just days after battling against them with 10 men.

Chats had Jordy Robins sent off just 25 minutes into Saturday’s game at The Enclosed Ground, which made a tough game even harder. It ended goalless.

In a rearranged game tonight at the Bauvill Stadium, the two sides meet again.

“Saturday was a real test for us, particularly after going down to ten men,” said Chats' boss Kevin Hake.

“I thought the players showed great resilience and discipline to come away with a point.

“When you’re a man light for a large part of the game, the focus shifts slightly, and it becomes about organisation, concentration and sticking together — and I felt we did that well.”

With Robins’ early dismissal for a foul on Hawks player Andrew Briggs, Chats had a reshuffle at the break as Junior Dixon replaced Tope Fadahunsi.

Former Gillingham loan striker Jay Emmanuel-Thomas was involved in a couple of chances in the opening 45 minutes but Chats keeper Nathan Harvey proved to be a safe pair of hands in goal.

In the second-half, Whitehawk looked to make their man advantage count.

Chats’ Alex Giles was called upon to make a great clearance off the line to deny Emmanuel-Thomas, an offside flag ruled out another opportunity and there was a goalmouth scramble from a corner late on.

Hake’s team held on to take a point back home, leaving the hosts frustrated.

“It wasn’t a game full of flowing football,” admitted the Chats boss.

“Sometimes you have to show a different side, and that’s what we did.

“The defensive shape and work rate were important, and I was pleased with how the group responded to the circumstances.
