Faversham Town boss Tommy Warrilow desperate to ensure side don’t undo hard work in Isthmian South East play-off bid ahead of their home match against Merstham after 1-1 draw with Crowborough Athletic
Tommy Warrilow is desperate to ensure Faversham Town don’t undo all their hard work in the play-off race at the business end of this season.
The Lilywhites, in their first campaign back in Isthmian South East, are fifth and in the final play-off place - only on goals scored - after they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Crowborough last weekend.
Next up is the visit of Merstham this weekend. While they have beaten Jamie Decruz’s men twice this campaign at Moatside already, once in the FA Cup (2-1) and once in the league (1-0), Town manager Warrilow knows they cannot underestimate them.
While Faversham remain in control of their own destiny as they target a top-five finish, there’s no margin for error if they want to continue to do so.
Manager Warrilow said: “We have been there twice and won twice, but they have been tough games. They’re a really good team.
“Last year, they finished in the play-off places and, if I’d had to do a prediction league in the summer, I would have expected them to be up there.
“They’re a good club but we’re a good club, as well, and we have had a good season. I just don’t want us to throw it away.
“I don’t want us to throw it away because we have worked so hard to get here.”
There’s plenty still to be decided during the final six fixtures of the campaign, with leaders Three Bridges five points clear and as many as five clubs eyeing the last two play-off places.
Faversham will follow up their match against Merstham with a Good Friday derby trip to Ashford six days later before they host out-of-form Sheppey United on Easter Monday.
“Three Bridges lost to Margate (2-0) so Margate will be looking to gate-crash the play-off places,” said Warrilow. “Croydon will be trying to close Three Bridges down
