Faversham Town appoint Adam Porter as new goalkeeping coach as Lilywhites prepare to start pre-season with home friendlies against Dover Athletic and Bromley XI

Faversham have appointed a new goalkeeping coach.

Adam Porter, formerly of Tunbridge Wells and Holmesdale, joins Tommy Warrilow’s Town backroom staff, ahead of their Isthmian South East return. He replaces the vastly-experienced Terry Sedge.

“They are hard positions to fill,” said Lilywhites manager Warrilow.

“I had conversations with Adam and I know a few people that know him. He seems like a nice geezer.

“It’s that old saying ‘Work hard, play hard’. We want to be professional in everything we do but enjoy it, as well.

"Once the games are finished, it’s then about trying to improve yourself and getting ready for the next game.

“Adam’s character fits perfectly with what we’re doing, he’ll fill the void that Tel left.

“He’s away at the moment but he will be back soon.

“Hopefully, it’s the start of a successful period for him in his career, as well.”

Warrilow had previously worked alongside Sedge at Tonbridge, Thamesmead Town and Ashford before the pair reunited as the former took charge at Salters Lane in January 2024.

Sedge worked closely with No.2 Lewis Briggs and first-choice keeper Jacob Russell, whose impressive tally of shut-outs helped Faversham to the Southern Counties East League Premier Division title.

Warrilow said: “That’s the best possible way for Tel to go out - as champions.

“Last year, it was a real shame to go out in the play-offs on a Tuesday night. This year, we wanted to go one better. Key to that was the clean sheets.

“Hopefully, we’re in for another successful year.”

Town’s players returned to training following their trip to Las Vegas - organised by chairman Gary Smart - last weekend, ahead of their pre-season programme.
