Gillingham goalkeeper Glenn Morris reacts to their 2-0 home loss against Luton Town in pre-season friendly

Goalkeeper Glenn Morris insists Gillingham are in a good place – despite being outgunned by League 1 big boys Luton Town in their latest pre-season clash.

The experienced keeper doesn’t want to look too deep into a 2-0 defeat against Luton and insists it’s all about making sure they’re right for when it matters most.

Gillingham have two more pre-season matches left, against Ebbsfleet and Dartford, before kicking off the season with a trip to Accrington Stanley on August 2.

“We've had a good workout, first and foremost,” Morris said, after their latest friendly outing.

“The boys looked fit and where we want to be. We’re in a good place. Everything's going in the right direction.

“It's difficult to know where you're at in terms of comparing to other teams but we can't worry about that. We've just got to worry about ourselves.

“We had a good workout against Southampton midweek. We played Luton and both teams are higher than us.

“There were large spells of it where we've really gone toe-to-toe with them, so some real positives.

“We'll see
