Fabinho sends warning to Liverpool squad ahead of Inter Milan clash

Fabinho urged his Liverpool team-mates to quickly shift their focus to Inter Milan following the side’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over Burnley, stressing that they are in for a ‘really tough game’ at the San Siro.

The Brazil international broke the deadlock in the 40th minute at Turf Moor, directing the ball home on the rebound after having an initial effort blocked by Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope.

It was Fabinho’s fifth goal in seven games in all competitions and the visitors preserved their narrow advantage in testing weather conditions to move to within nine points of runaway Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp heaped praise on Fabinho during his post-match media duties, but the ex-Monaco midfielder – not known for his goalscoring exploits – was keen to look ahead to the Reds’ upcoming clash with Inter.

The Merseyside giants travel to Milan for the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie on Wednesday night before returning to Anfield to host the Serie A champions on March 8.

‘This will be a really tough game. Inter Milan right now is the best Italian team and that’s why they are first in the league,’ Fabinho told LFCTV.

They play good, they are a strong team, they play together four or five seasons some players so we have two or three days to prepare for this game.

Hopefully we go to Milan and have another good result in this nice stadium.

Fabinho felt Liverpool made life difficult for themselves against Burnley by failing to keep the ball on the ground for extended periods of the game.
