Erik ten Hag spoke to the press at Tuesday lunchtime as he looked ahead to Manchester United's upcoming Premier League fixture against Brentford.

United have won just three of their last nine league matches following their defeat to Newcastle at the weekend and will be looking to bounce back against one of the surprise packages of the season.

Brentford famously won 4-0 when these two sides met in the second match of the campaign, and Ten Hag will be desperate to show just how far his side have really come since that humiliating defeat.

The United manager praised Luke Shaw after he signed a new four-year contract at the club earlier in the day, and confirmed that midfielder Christian Eriksen would be returning to training after his two-month injury layoff.

Erik ten Hag says there is "really close competition" between right-backs Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Wan-Bissaka played six minutes all season before the World Cup and Dalot started in all but one of United's first 21 fixtures and he only missed the win at Fulham through suspension.
