Everything Christian Eriksen has said about his future ahead of potential Manchester United free transfer

Manchester United are interested in signing Christian Eriksen on a free transfer this summer. Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest at last summer's European Championship and he departed Inter Milan following that incident.

The player made his comeback to football in January earlier this year when joining Brentford on a six-month loan deal. After contributing one goal and four assists in 11 appearances for Brentford, Eriksen is now available on a free transfer and Thomas Frank's side would like to permanently sign the midfielder, but they're facing competition from United for his signature.

The Manchester Evening News understands Erik ten Hag wants to bring Frenkie de Jong and Eriksen to reshape United's midfield this summer, although it's thought the latter could be persuaded to sign for Brentford, as his family have been settled in London.

Eriksen spent seven years in London and his firstborn was in the capital, but what has he actually said about his future?

After Eriksen proved he retained his quality on loan at Brentford, he was regularly asked about his next step in football.

"When I signed here in January, it was actually coming back and showing I was a football player and could play football," Eriksen told Sky Sports. "There was also the six months of a test trial. By now, it feels good, but for the future, I don’t know.

"I’m just enjoying the moment, every game is really fun to play in. what happens in the summer will be a decision for me as a footballer and as a family man.
