Everton: Lampard ‘wants Premier League striker’ at Goodison Park

Everton manager Frank Lampard wants to sign a Premier League striker this summer, despite recent links to European marksmen, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Lampard has overseen a hectic transfer window at Goodison Park but the Toffees could still strengthen significantly ahead of the September 1 deadline.

Five new players have been signed by the Merseyside club as they look to steer clear of another relegation battle in the 2022-23 campaign.

Amadou Onana was the latest to sign, penning a five-year deal after a £33 million fee was agreed with Lille. He joins Dwight McNeil, James Tarkowski, Conor Coady and Ruben Vinagre at Goodison Park but the club do not appear to be finished yet.

A new striker is seemingly the next priority with Strasbourg’s Ludovic Ajorque and Rennes ace Serouh Guirassy linked.

Richarlison has been sold to Tottenham this summer while Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Solomon Rondon both missed Everton’s season-opener against Chelsea on Saturday with injury.

Jones believes that, while a striker remains on the agenda, Lampard specifically wants a player he is familiar with.

The transfer insider believes that this likely means that only forwards with Premier League experience are being targeted by the club.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “I was told Lampard specifically wants to know a fair bit about whichever striker he ends up signing because he wants to have somebody that he knows he can get the best out of pretty early on.

“So, on the back of that, he pretty much wants a Premier League striker. He wants someone that’s been around the league.

“Even if they haven’t been a regular, he wants to have seen them and understand what they’re about. So I think he’ll probably look for someone that’s on the fringes
