Everton: 'Lampard could push deal through' for £46k-a-week star at Goodison Park

Everton boss Frank Lampard ‘could push through a deal’ which would see Wolverhampton Wanderers star Adama Traore head to Goodison Park, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

Although the Toffees completed the £15million acquisition of Neal Maupay from Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday, further fresh faces may be drafted in ahead of the 11pm deadline on Thursday.

According to Football Insider, Everton have made an approach to sign Traore before the transfer window slams shut.

The report suggests the Merseyside outfit looked to secure the eight-cap Spain international’s services earlier in the summer, but he was holding out for a move to a top-four club at the time.

Traore is back at Wolves after spending the second half of last season on loan with Barcelona and the La Liga giants opted against taking advantage of a £29million option to make the switch permanent.

However, there is uncertainty over the 26-year-old’s Molineux future as he has entered the final 12 months of his £46,000-per-week contract.

Everton are not Traore’s only suitors as transfer insider Dean Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have also shown an interest.

Phillips understands that Lampard is a long-term admirer of Traore and, as a result, has backed Everton to secure the Wolves man’s signature.

The journalist is aware that the Toffees’ boss was a fan of the winger during his spell in the Chelsea dugout and the west Londoners’ interest has not gone away.

However, he believes there is a distinct possibility that Traore will end up heading to Merseyside ahead of the transfer window’s closure.
