Everton are an example for Man City to follow amid Premier League FFP charges

Since the news of Manchester City's monstrous 115 Premier League charges earlier this year, rival supporters have attempted to attach an asterisk to any achievements Pep Guardiola's side have attained.

Last season, City created history and were by far and away the strongest side in the Premier League and Champions League. The Blues deserved their Treble accomplishment but critics worked hard to discredit the achievement.

As Guardiola has alluded to in his press conferences when the charges have been brought up, there is an assumption of guilt even before the trial has taken place. The City boss might be sick of this line of discourse now but he could be set for a prolonged period of it to come.

Reports on Wednesday suggested the Blues may have to wait until the summer of 2025 to have their trial heard. That potentially means just under two years of speculation against City which could easily become a distraction from what is going on, on the pitch.

However, the Blues are being shown the way to deal with the situation by Everton. Earlier this month, the Toffees were docked 10 points for a Financial Fair Play (FFP) breach.

The Merseyside club are challenging the decision and protests from supporters were evident during their defeat to Manchester United at the weekend. But among the playing staff, Sean Dyche has led the way with an attitude City can adopt.
