Sean Dyche hints at Man City warning after Everton points deduction

Everton boss Sean Dyche has issued a warning to other Premier League clubs such as Manchester City following Everton's points deduction.

Dyche reckons other sides will be worried by reports claiming that Everton could be docked further points for breaking financial rules last season. The Toffees were handed a 10-point deduction in November which has plunged them into a relegation scrap.

Everton have to post their figures for the 2022/23 campaign by the end of this year and the Premier League could fast-track any punishment before the end of May. Dyche said: "I've not been told anything other than what we've heard so far."

Dyche said being docked the points will leave other teams worried about their own situations. "We were stunned football was stunned with the outcome of 10 points," he told reporters. "Who knows what comes next? Not just for us, but for many others I'd imagine. The way it's sounding from the noise out there, it'll not just be about us. There'll be others looked at possibly over time."

Dyche insists he is not worried about further possible points deductions for Everton, saying: "It's more about the factual side of what's gone on. The 10 points are not currently there, so we have to crack on."

Meanwhile, City learned this week they will face a trial in autumn 2024 over more than 100 alleged financial breaches by the Premier League. City have won the last three league titles and are aiming for an unprecedented fourth in a row.
