Everton ace drops hilarious reply as Goodison footage emerges

Everton mathematically secured their top-flight status on Thursday night after a comeback win against Crystal Palace at Goodison Park, with players, staff and fans all going crazy at the full-time whistle.

It was the worst possible start for the Toffees, who were 2-0 down at half-time after strikes from Jean-Philippe Mateta and Jordan Ayew. Frank Lampard’s team talk at the interval clearly worked wonders, as goals from Michael Keane, Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin secured the three points for Everton as well as Premier League safety.

Supporters were sharing clips of the celebrations on social media, with one fan noticing the injured Andros Townsend’s reaction. They joked he set his recovery from injury back, with the Everton ace visibly still struggling physically as he leapt up in celebration of a crucial Toffees goal.

The Toffees ace spotted this and replied on Twitter, saying: “I regret absolutely nothing.”

TIF Thoughts on Andros Townsend’s tweet…

It’s great to see the players celebrating with the supporters, hopefully giving them something to smile about after what has been a dismal season which almost ended in disaster for the Toffees.

Townsend hasn’t played since March after he injured his cruciate ligaments, so it was no surprise to see him hopping around in the celebrations. The fact he wanted to get involved so much shows how it means to the players and staff as well as the supporters.

Whether he will truly regret his celebration remains to be seen, but Townsend may not mind too much now that he will definitely have Premier League football to come back to upon his return.
