Everton: 65-game Goodison Park ace has 'been on chopping block for years'

Everton will not offer a new contract to Jonjoe Kenny as he has ‘been on the chopping block for years’ at Goodison Park, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The Toffees are embroiled in a relegation battle, with Kenny looking to help maintain his current employers’ Premier League status, but there are question marks as to whether he will still be on Merseyside by the time next term gets underway.

Kenny’s Everton contract, which is worth £15,000-per-week, is set to expire in the summer.

In an interview with the Liverpool Echo last month, the right-back admitted he had not discussed extending his deal with manager Frank Lampard.

Kenny also revealed that quitting his boyhood club, whose books he has been on since the age of nine, has never crossed his mind.

The 25-year-old has been involved in 17 fixtures this season and, while his primary responsibility is to keep the ball out of the back of his own net, Kenny has shown he can be a threat going forward by laying on three assists.

Having come through the ranks, Kenny has gone on to make 65 senior appearances for the Toffees, but it seems as though his Everton career is coming to an end.

Brown believes Kenny will not be offered a new contract which will extend his stay at Goodison Park.

As a result, the journalist feels the boyhood Toffees fan needs to come to terms with the fact he will be moving on to pastures new in the summer and start assessing his options.

Brown told GIVEMESPORT: “Jonjoe Kenny is someone who has been on the chopping block for years.

“His contract is up and I can’t see a situation where he stays or is offered a new one.”
