Eurovision 2022 bookies' favourites predict this year's winner and UK result

Eurovision 2022 rehearsals started on Saturday, but fans of the song contest already have their clear favourites. The competition will be live from the Pala Olimpico in Turin, following Italy's victory in 2021 with rock band Måneskin.

Two semi finals will first take place on Tuesday, May 10, and Thursday, May 12, before the grand final which will see one country and its artist(s) be crowned Eurovision winner. The popular show will be hosted by Italian singer Laura Pausini, Italian TV presenter Alessandro Cattelan and British-Lebanese pop star Mika.

According to bookmakers, the clear favourite this year is Ukraine, which has been under attack since late February, when Russia invaded the country. According to Eurovisionworld, a website all about Eurovision which has a live list of favourites according to the most popular bookies, Ukraine has a 43% chance to win this year's Eurovision Song Contest.

Next Italy with 15% and Sweden, with 11%. The UK is fourth according to the list, with a 6% chance of winning. The UK's contestant, Sam Ryder, from Essex, will be competing with his song called Space Man which he co-wrote with Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Amy Wadge and Max Wolfgang, who have been involved in projects with Ed Sheeran and BTS. It would be the UK's first victory since 1997.
