Cristiano Ronaldo sets Manchester United target amid Jesse Lingard stance on farewell snub

Here are your Manchester United evening headlines on Tuesday, May 3.

Ronaldo sends message to fans

Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a passionate message to Manchester United fans demanding a return to former glories next season. Ronaldo grabbed his 24th goal of the campaign during a morale-boosting 3-0 victory over Brentford in their final home game of the season on Monday night.

United teammates Bruno Fernandes and Raphael Varane - who finally scored a first goal for the club - were also on target while Ronaldo converted from the penalty spot. After the game, Ronaldo turned to social media to address suffering supporters who have endured a difficult season. United have now gone five years without winning any trophy, although there is restored hope and ambition moving forward.

It means Lingard's final home appearance for United turned out to be in the 3-2 victory over Norwich on April 16.
