Erling Haaland out of Rangers warmup clash as Dortmund left reeling from fresh injury blow

Borussia Dortmund have been dealt a blow in their hopes of having Erling Haaland back to face Rangers as the Norway striker WON'T play against Gladbach this weekend.

Meanwhile boss Marco Rose has also confirmed defender Manuel Akanji will miss the trip to Scotland as he faces three weeks on the sidelines.

The Bundesliga giants were rocked at the Westfalenstadion on Thursday as Rangers came away with a famous 4-2 victory.

Dortmund looked blunt in attack without their talisman Haaland who watched on from the stands as his team fell to a shock Europa League defeat.

They will have to start fast at Ibrox on Thursday if they are to turn the tie around and having 23-goal Haaland back would be a major boost.

But it seems that decision will go to the wire as Rose confirmed he will play no part on Sunday.

He may winger Marius Wolf back but Akanji, a fixture of the back line, will be out for three weeks after he limped off in the second half against Gers in Germany.

Rose said ahead of their Bundesliga clash: "Erling Haaland is not an option for the game against Gladbach, but Marius Wolf might be.

"Manuel Akanji is out for about three weeks with a muscle fibre tear in his calf. Thomas Meunier is not yet back in team training."

Dortmund face Gladbach looking to bounce back from their midweek shocker and kick off at 4.30pm UK time on Sunday.
