Barcelona set for major Erling Haaland boost and more Manchester United transfer rumours

Barcelona are reportedly set for a major cash injection that could scupper Manchester United’s summer transfer plans – including their pursuit of Erling Haaland.

According to the Mirror, the Catalan giants are ready to make a U-turn on their decision to snub a long-term financial agreement through La Liga in order to secure the investment. The report claims they are set to accept an agreement with investment company CVC.

Barca’s well-documented financial problems looked set to hinder any hopes they had of making signings this summer. But with funds set to be made available, they could be a major mover in the upcoming transfer market.

Haaland is said to be top of their list of targets, with reports claiming Barcelona held a meeting in December with his agent Mino Raiola. And with their cash injection, they could find themselves in a position to beat United – among others – to the Norwegian’s signature.

Barca boss Xavi is claimed to have flown to Germany in order to hold a meeting with the striker earlier this week. The Spanish club are said to be prioritising creating a financial position in which they can offer Haaland a package to lure him away from other clubs.

Elsewhere, Botafogo are once again being heavily linked with a move for Edinson Cavani. The Brazilian side officially announced John Textor as their new owner this week, and are set to splash out on new signings this summer.
