Erling Haaland dismissed Manchester United as credible transfer before joining Man City

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland dismissed rivals United as a credible move before joining the Blues this summer.

Haaland was one of the world's most sought-after strikers in the summer having racked up an incredible goalscoring record at Borussia Dortmund. Most of European football's top clubs were linked with a move for Haaland including United who remain on the search for a centre forward.

However, in the new documentary 'Haaland — The Big Decision' via The Times, the 22-year-old's father Alf-Inge, explained the shortlist of clubs his son considered before moving to City. "On our list, I think City is the best team," the former Blues man said.

"[Bayern] Munich is number two. We have Real Madrid as number three, Paris Saint-Germain as number four. We also have some English teams other than City who are quite good.

"Liverpool and Chelsea. Also, there is Barcelona. They are sort of in the same row."

Sadly for United, they were never in Haaland's thought process before making his departure from Signal Iduna Park. The Reds may well be kicking themselves that they were not a desirable option for Haaland in the summer following his start to the season.

The Norwegian has already scored 14 goals in just ten competitive fixtures this season and he looks to be well on his way to breaking plenty of records. Haaland will come up against United for the first time as a City player on Sunday when this campaign's first Manchester derby takes place at the Etihad Stadium.
