Erik Ten Hag sets Jadon Sancho test as ex-Arsenal man joins Manchester United

Manchester United are gearing up for a tricky Premier League trip to Burnley as they aim to build the foundations for a successful season.

Four defeats in six games across all competitions has resulted in many already writing Erik ten Hag’s side off. Off-field issues have also plagued United, with the Dutchman running out of wide options with each passing week.

Victory at Turf Moor against a Clarets side wanting their first win of the campaign would ease the pressure levels around the club. As expected, Ten Hag was grilled on all things United ahead of the match and his pre-game comments dominate today’s evening headlines.

Ten Hag lays down Sancho test

Ten Hag insists Jadon Sancho's future depends on the player. Sancho is training away from the first-team squad, pending the outcome of a disciplinary issue, after he accused Ten Hag of lying over his omission from the matchday squad for the Premier League defeat to Arsenal on September 3.

It remains unclear if Sancho will play for United again and, when asked about the winger, the Dutchman put the ball in his court. He said: "It depends on him (whether Sancho will play again). For the rest, we are preparing for Burnley and that's our focus. He will not be in the squad."
