Dimitar Berbatov thinks Jadon Sancho is overestimating his importance at Manchester United

Dimitar Berbatov has suggested Jadon Sancho should apologise to Erik ten Hag and work hard in training to get his career back on track at Manchester United after 'overestimating his importance' at the club.

Sancho was absent against Arsenal last month and Ten Hag revealed he wasn't named in the squad because of his training performances, something which the player responded to with a statement on social media.

The 23-year-old wrote 'don't believe everything you read' in a public dispute with his manager, which led to him being banished from the first-team and placed on a personal training programme until the matter is resolved.

There have been almost four weeks since Sancho's outburst and it's understood he's yet to apologise for his comments.

The discipline issue has continued to rumble on and although Berbatov thinks Sancho should apologise and try to get his career back on track, he admitted to Betfair that it might be best for him to depart from Old Trafford.

"If it continues like this, Jadon Sancho going to go nowhere at the club," he said. "I'm very disappointed that a situation like this has been made public and a lot of people are discussing it. Things like this happen often, but they're not made public.

"Players will fight with their managers, players, club staff, or even themselves, but it's not often made public. When it's connected to a big club like United, then people will talk about it and interpret it differently.
