Erik ten Hag reassured after Manchester United's blunt attacking performance vs Wolves

Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke is confident the Reds' strikers will soon find their rhythm despite an underwhelming display against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night.

United struggled to break down a well organised Wolves side who were coming into the match after a summer of upheaval at Molineux. Premier League debutant Andre Onana was forced into a string of good stops as the West Midlands club were frustrated.

Eventually the Reds would punish their opponents as defenders Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Raphael Varane linked up for the only goal of the evening. Post-match, United's boss was critical of his striker's lack of a cutting edge in front of goal.

He told reporters: "I think we could have scored five or six turnovers and there were overloads but I think the frontline was not in the best form today and we could have made more out of it from the overload situations.

"Last week, we scored some incredible goals. This week, it's the form of the day and we didn't, but it will come.

"We have to move with the ball and be compact. Once we are compact, we have to be aggressive and fight in the duels. Today, we lost some fights and the counter-attacks you allow.

"But luckily we were defending the counter-attacks well and in Andre Onana we had some very good saves."

Speaking to MEN Sport, Yorke echoed Ten Hag's sentiments and agreed the strike force will find a way to make it work. "The league is not going to be won or lost on the first game of the season," he explained.
