Erik ten Hag needs four Manchester United players to step up and save his job

Manchester United will yet again be looking for a response as they look to transform their season with a victory away at Fulham on Saturday lunchtime.

Erik ten Hag is under increasing pressure in the United manager's position after a dire start to the campaign, which has seen United lose more matches than they have won.

Things reached a new low with a humiliating home defeat to Newcastle in midweek, the fifth time they have lost at Old Trafford already this season, the fourth of which they have conceded three goals.

A huge improvement is needed at Craven Cottage today and here are the main talking points ahead of the match:

Ten Hag is far from the biggest problem at United, but he is becoming an increasingly large one as the weeks go by. Even if they dropped points again today, it would be a shock to see him sacked.

Even though so much of the club stems from their helpless hierarchy and oblivious owners, Ten Hag has been backed with £400 million in new signings and has had over a year to try and implement a style of play.

United still appear to be as rudderless as they were under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and they are on the verge of another winter of discontent, led by a manager who may be out of his depth.

There is no obvious candidate to take over at Old Trafford and there is no plan to suggest it would be a good decision to sack another manager so early into his reign. But that surely won't be enough to save him if results don't improve.
