Eric Bailly hauled off after ex-Manchester United player's 'inappropriate move' during match

Former Manchester United defender Eric Bailly was hauled off at half-time of Besiktas' clash with Antalyaspor after what his manager described as an "inappropriate move".

The interim coach of Besiktas, Burak Yilmaz, explained that he substituted Bailly at half-time in a Super Lig defeat because of the 29-year-old's behaviour on the pitch. Bailly, who moved from United to Besiktas in September, is having a tough time in Turkey.

The club are trailing rivals Galatasaray by 12 points in the league and the coach who signed Bailly has left the club. Yilmaz, now in temporary charge, decided to take Bailly off at half-time on Sunday.

The decision came after Bailly was seen arguing with teammate Tayfur Bingol, with the former Old Trafford man placing his hand on the player. After the game, Yilmaz explained to T24: "There was a problem with Eric Bailly during the half-time. That's why I took him off. There is no injury situation. I took him out of the game due to an inappropriate move."

Bailly, who was Jose Mourinho's first signing as United manager, played 113 games for the Reds. He moved from Spanish club Villarreal to Old Trafford for around £30million.

In his first season, he helped United win the Community Shield, EFL Cup and Europa League. But injuries disrupted Bailly's career at the club. After failing to impress Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick following Mourinho's departure, Bailly joined Marseille on loan before completing a permanent move to Besiktas this summer.
