Erik ten Hag fires warning to his Manchester United players ahead of Luton fixture

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has warned his players that Sunday's trip to Luton Town will be a big test of their character.

United will make the trip to Kenilworth Road in pursuit of a fourth successive Premier League victory following last weekend's 2-1 triumph against Aston Villa. Scott McTominay stepped off the bench to head home a dramatic winner.

The win moved United to within six points of the top four, but that gap will be widened if either Tottenham Hotspur or Aston Villa pick up a positive result on Saturday afternoon. Spurs face Wolves and Villa travel to Fulham, with both games penciled in for 3pm starts.

Luton have made life difficult for all of their opponents so far this season, including United, who edged past them in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford, winning 1-0 in November. The Hatters have lost just two of their last seven league outings and Ten Hag has refused to underestimate them.

"[It will be] very different," Ten Hag told MUTV, addressing the challenge awaiting his team at Kenilworth Road. "And we have to go from game to game, every game is, for us, a cup final.

"And definitely this is a big test for us, a big test of character. And now we have to prove ourselves on Sunday there because it's a very good team across the whole season, but especially lately, they are improving their standards. They are improving their performances.

"They are getting good results in, so we have to play our best, but we are capable of it. That is what we have proven the last couple of weeks, where we show good levels."
