Erik ten Hag discovers new Manchester United first-team player

Just 18 days now stand between Manchester United and their opening game of the forthcoming Premier League campaign at home to Wolves on August 14.

Following the success of Erik ten Hag's first season in charge last term, United will be looking to build on their third-placed finish and Carabao Cup success. The Reds have already added two new faces to their ranks and remain hungry to add further additions.

Though new signings will be key in helping United make the progress they wish to in 2023/24, their current pre-season campaign will also be key in setting them up perfectly for the big kick-off in just over a fortnight's time.

United are five friendlies into their eight-game pre-season schedule and have so far won three and lost two, though the defeat to Wrexham in San Diego was handled by the academy and younger members of Ten Hag's squad. Technically speaking, therefore, the first-team have won three and lost one of their first four friendlies.

With that said, MEN Sport has taken a close look at four things we have learnt from United's pre-season campaign so far.
