Erik ten Hag 'angers Sir Jim Ratcliffe’ with TV interview as Man United given Luke Shaw update

Erik ten Hag has been vocal since learning that he would be kept on as United boss, and his comments are said to have irked Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos circle. The club co-owner has been speaking to the media as well this week. He explained to Bloomberg why he decided to keep the Dutchman on as head coach and bemoaned the transfer embargo that prohibits moves for players between United and Ineos-owned OGC Nice.

He also discussed his annoyance with ‘complicated’ Financial Fair Play Rules. Meanwhile, United have been given another update on Luke Shaw’s injury. Ten Hag said he didn’t expect the left-back to feature for England at Euro 2024 until the knockouts, and now more information has emerged ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Slovenia.

The Sun says Ratcliffe was irked by Ten Hag’s comments to Dutch media last weekend regarding Ineos’ meeting with him in Ibiza, when he was told he would be keeping his job. "Manchester United disturbed my holiday, they suddenly stood at my doorstep,” the United boss told NOS.

“They flew to me in Ibiza. Ineos took their time. They are new in football, it's normal to reflect the season. It's no secret that they talked with multiple candidates.” Ratcliffe is said to be annoyed given the meeting was confidential and in confidence.
