England Women's Euro 2022 squad: the final 23-player line-up, fixtures and more

Keira Walsh has spoken about the influence watching Barcelona and La Liga has had on her game ahead of England's Euro 2022 quarter-final against Spain on Wednesday night.

Manchester City's Walsh has previously described fellow midfielder David Silva, who spent a decade with the club after winning the World Cup with Spain in 2010, as her favourite ever player.

And speaking on Monday, two days out from the match at the Amex Stadium, the 25-year-old said: "I've definitely grown up with watching the Spanish players.

"My dad definitely tried to influence a bit of that in my game - I'm not sure whether he has!

"My dad's just a massive football fan, he did always have games on, a lot of it was watching Barcelona and La Liga, and when City were playing, he used to make me sit next to him and would be like, 'Watch how David Silva's playing, how they make their movements and are checking their shoulders'... that sort of thing.

"In that sense he always made me watch football, and I think that's kind of how I'm able to see the game the way I do now, because of that influence really."

The Spanish side England will face are one place above them in the world rankings at seventh, and without two major stars at the tournament through injury in Alexia Putellas and Jennifer Hermoso.

They came second in Group B, having beaten Finland 4-1, lost 2-0 to Germany and then won 1-0 against Denmark.
