Emmerdale 'let's slip' John Sugden's true identity as fans admit: 'Didn’t see it coming'

Emmerdale has appeared to confirm the real identity of John Sugden after a telling three-word remark.

The soap newbie (Oliver Farnworth) made his bombshell arrival last week - and it didn’t take long for him to ruffle feathers.

He claimed to be the long-lost son of Jack Sugden (Clive Hornby). And it didn’t take long for him to make an impression on the village residents.

Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) ended up getting steamy with John - not knowing he was the brother of his ex-husband Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley). And both were left shocked when they found out the truth.

What’s more, Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) was also stunned by the arrival of John, as she had no idea she had another sibling.

However, earlier this week things took a suspicious turn when Victoria discovered a tin containing some of his personal belongings. And when John opened it up, he picked up an Army tag with the name Aiden Moore engraved on it, as he refused to let Victoria look at it.

John’s army tag left fans in a frenzy, with many wondering who Aiden Moore was. What’s more, viewers did some digging and found out that a past character, linked to John’s father Jack Sugden, had the same surname as Aidan.

But during Tuesday’s episode (August 14) the soap appeared to reveal John’s true identity. After heading back to Victoria’s to get changed, John was cornered by her - keen to have a “family night". However, John wasn’t having it.

Appearing to confirm that he is not actually John Sugden, John told her: “We’re not family.” He then fumed: “I’m not Harry’s uncle of your brother, I’m just someone who is passing through.”
