EFL name one condition that will allow Crystal Palace to sign Luke Plange from Derby

Crystal Palace's decision to sign Derby County's teenage striker Luke Plange looks set to go ahead, but only if the 19-year-old's salary does not increase as part of his move to Selhurst Park.

The Eagles have reportedly had a £1million bid accepted for the former Arsenal academy forward, who has scored three goals for Wayne Rooney's side since making his debut for them in early December.

Palace are said to be looking to loan Plange back to Derby for the remainder of the season and potentially even the whole of next season as well.

However, there has been some confusion over the deal due to Derby's current transfer embargo, which they were placed under by the EFL upon going into administration.

According to DerbyshireLive, Plange will be allowed to return to Pride Park but his salary must not increase as part of any deal that takes him to south London, in accordance with Football League rules.

Palace remain confident of sealing the deal and reports from the Daily Mail suggest their £1m fee has already been accepted by the Rams, while the EFL are said to have approved the loan return also.

The striker is likely to be the only new signing Patrick Vieria's side pull off this window, though there is hope the club will be able to convert French forward Jean-Philippe Mateta's 18-month loan from Mainz into a permanent deal.
