Arsenal mission to hijack Spurs' £72m dream signing confirmed by Harry Kane Man United stance
Arsenal have an excellent chance to avenge their failure of signing Dusan Vlahovic by stealing Tottenham’s Harry Kane replacement.
According to Calciomercato, Lautaro Martinez could leave Inter Milan this summer, with Arsenal interested in signing the forward.
Both The Gunners and Spurs fought it out for the Argentine’s signature in last summer’s transfer window, but the forward instead opted to sign a new contract at Inter.
However, with his recent development and Kane reportedly heading for the exit door in the summer, the two rivals could be set to battle it out for Martinez once again in the upcoming transfer window.
According to the Daily Mirror, Kane is open to reuniting with Mauricio Pochettino amid reports that the PSG manager would target him if he becomes the next Manchester United manager.
If Kane was to depart, then Tottenham would not have another registered striker in the squad and would likely look to reignite their interest in Martinez.
However, Arsenal can prevent Spurs from replacing Kane with the Argentine due to the club’s own problems surrounding the striker situation.
The current starting forward for Arsenal is Lacazette but his contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and according to French outlet L’Equipe, his former club Lyon are interested in resigning him.
If he does depart from the club then Arsenal could be left with just one recognised striker in the form of Folarin Balogun. Nketiah’s contract is also set to expire at the end of the season and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s move to Barcelona means that Edu would have offloaded three forwards within the space of six months.
