Ederson takes Rangers inspiration in blink and you'll miss it Man City clip as he studies Allan McGregor up close

Man City took inspiration from Rangers on the way to the Treble last season - showing Ederson how Allan McGregor saved a penalty from Odsonne Edouard.

Pep Guardiola's side enjoyed an historic season in 2023/24, becoming the only English side to win the Treble - league, cup, and Champions League - since Manchester United in 1999. Their famous accomplishment was tracked by Netflix cameras, as the Together: Treble Winners documentary tracked it all from the first kick of a ball.

Those fly on the wall films often reveal candid moments that wouldn't have otherwise made it to air, from Danny Rose clashing with Jose Mourinho at Tottenham to Sunderland's co-owner going full David Brent with his idea for walk-on music.

And in the latest curious behind-the-scenes reveal, City's doc shows one blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment where Rangers take centre stage. It comes as keeper Ederson is doing his research before their 4-2 win over Crystal Palace, a key moment in the title race as they battled back to reclaim top spot.

Edouard, though not Palace's starting striker at the time, was one of the likely penalty takers given his formidable record from 12 yards - he only missed two of the 11 he took while in Glasgow. One of those was against Allan McGregor at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup round of 16, and a brief one-second clip shows Ederson watching that moment to study Edouard's likely technique.

As it happened, Edouard ended up scoring into Ederson - but only after Erling Haaland's hattrick had turned things around and got City cruising to a 4-1 lead.
