Ederson breaks injury silence ahead of Man City Premier League title decider

Ederson has posted to social media for the first time since he sustained a season-ending injury in Manchester City's 2-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday.

The Brazilian was replaced midway through the second half of the Cityzens' win in North London after being involved in a collision with Son Heung-min which left him with a fractured eye socket and as a result, will see him miss City's final games of the season against West Ham United and Manchester United.

On Thursday night, Ederson, who was left in tears by manager Pep Guardiola's decision to substitute him, posted on Instagram: "No one understands, but me. See you soon," he wrote to his 5.2million followers.

After Tuesday night's victory at Tottenham, though, Guardiola revealed that he was advised by City's medical staff to substitute Ederson because the injury he sustained left him unable to see.

"Ederson did not have a concussion, he had a problem with his eye," said Guardiola. "He could not see properly so the doctor said I should change."

Manchester City will be able to secure a fourth consecutive Premier League title on Sunday afternoon if they can beat West Ham United, at the Etihad, in their final game of the season. If successful, it will be Guardiola's sixth title since joining the club eight years ago.

Next weekend, City will travel to Wembley to defend their FA Cup crown as they meet bitter rivals Manchester United in a repeat of the 2023 final, which City won 2-1.
