Ebbsfleet United manager Josh Wright says winning games will lead to success as club aim to bounce back in National League South

Ebbsfleet manager Josh Wright says a successful season will be to get back to winning games of football.

The Fleet boss didn’t mention promotion when asked what a successful season looks like.

But after a tough campaign spent adrift at the bottom of the National League, it’s a fresh start at Step 2 for Ebbsfleet and Wright hopes to put smiles on faces at Stonebridge Road again.

“Look, in terms of us as a football club, it's not just been a tough year, it's been longer than that,” said Wright.

“It's been a long while now that the club hasn't got enough results. So first and foremost, I wanted to rebuild. I wanted to freshen the place up and we've done exactly that.

“I'm sure people can see from the outside that it's a completely different feel, a completely different look about the place. Ultimately, we want to make this club successful again, and we want to start winning football games.

“By winning football games, that leads to success. What that success will look like, we'll have to wait and see. But there's a goal.

“We obviously know in terms of the inside, we know the feeling of what everyone wants and what everyone needs, if you like. And that's our aim. We want to be successful this season and we want to get it right.

“It might take time. It might click straight away, but we have to keep going. We have to keep being professional.

“We have to be a team, as I say. And we have to do what it takes to be winners. And that's exactly what I want this place to be.

“I want it to become winners again, that's the aim and that's exactly what we'll be going for.”

It’s been a productive pre-season for Wright, with a big emphasis on fitness ahead of life in National League South.
