Ebbsfleet United manager Josh Wright reacts to 2-0 National League South win at Dagenham & Redbridge

Ebbsfleet manager Josh Wright was delighted to give the club’s fans something to cheer about on the opening day of the new season.

The Fleet produced an accomplished display to win 2-0 at National League South title favourites Dagenham on Saturday.

Backed by more than 300 supporters, the Fleet’s travelling support were seeing their side win away from home in a league game for the first time since February 2024 – a run of 30 games.

There were six summer signings in Ebbsfleet’s starting line-up at Dagenham.

So Wright was particularly pleased with the cohesion shown by his team, who produced a near-perfect away performance.

“That's one of the most positive things for me,” admitted Wright.

“Of course, the result, but the performance and the togetherness we had.

“I said that in the huddle after the game, that we looked a proper team. We look so together, we look like we're on the same page and we look like we all want the same thing and we're all going in the same direction.

“But we have to continue
