Ebbsfleet United goalkeeper Matt Hall determined to grab his full-time chance with both hands amid healthy competition from on-loan Watford stopper Jonathan Macaulay
Goalkeeper Matt Hall is delighted to be back in full-time football with Ebbsfleet.
The 22-year-old was released by Bristol Rovers at the end of last season and featured against the Fleet for AFC Totton earlier this campaign.
That game saw a serious leg injury for Fleet keeper Gio Bellagambi which opened the door for Hall to move to Stonebridge Road.
“Going from full-time to then part-time was a tough transition for me,” disclosed Hall.
“Now I’m getting back into full-time again after not doing it. I’m just building back up to the consistency that I like.
“Unfortunately, Gio got injured and it kind of opened the door for something to happen but I didn’t really know much about it until a week later.
“I was only at Totton for five games and played five in a row and then came to Ebbsfleet.”
Hall had an excellent grounding in the professional ranks at Southampton and Bristol Rovers, although he was limited mainly to EFL Trophy appearances.
Now he’s keen to play week in, week out, and is hoping to make a big impression at Ebbsfleet.
“I spent a lot of the two years at Bristol Rovers on the bench and played a few cup games, but nothing too much,” said Hall.
“I wouldn’t say the two years were exactly how I wanted it to [go] but I feel like I’m finding my feet now and getting back on track.
“It’s a good experience because I was 20 to 22 so I was quite young, still, but I feel like now coming here it’s really time for me to kick on and I think we’re doing that now.
“I’ve toured League 1, that was all right, and now I’ve come here to get myself going.”
