Albion Rovers need to turn performances into three points to climb table, says boss

Albion Rovers boss Sandy Clark admits his side must start picking up wins to start climbing the Lowland League table after back-to-back draws.

After a goalless stalemate at Cowdenbeath last midweek, Rovers were held to a 1-1 draw by second-place Cumbernauld Colts on Saturday ahead of a trip to Gala Fairydean Rovers tonight and a home clash with Caledonian Braves on Saturday.

Clark knows recent results haven’t been ideal with his side sitting 15th in the table.

With as many as five games in hand over some rivals there isn’t a major cause for concern, but he admits they need to be picking up more points.

He said: “You’ve got to look at it sensibly. Cowdenbeath are a really good team who will be challenging and Cumbernauld Colts were joint-top of the league before this game, and you don’t get into that position without being a good team. They are a good team.

“Two points away from home is not perfect but these are hard games.

“We are progressing in certain areas and there is still a long way to go yet.

“If we can get points like this it is helpful but we do need to start getting three points from games.”

On the games facing his side, he added: “There is never an easy game in this league.

“We’ve got to try and put our attacking sense into these game and go for the three points.”
