East Kilbride close to agreeing deal for former Sunderland and Queen of the South striker
East Kilbride are close to completing a deal for former Queen of the South striker Lee Connelly.
The 24-year-old has been on trial at K-Park and featured in Saturday's 3-2 friendly win over Edinburgh City.
Boss Mick Kennedy says Connelly is one of three players the club are currently speaking to, but hopes to get the signing of the former Sunderland Under-23 and Alloa Athletic confirmed soon.
He revealed: “We’ve had Lee Connelly on trial with us from Queen of the South and I think that could well convert to a full-time contract.
“We’ve got another two players we are trying to do business with. We are trying to negotiate with a striker and a left-back. If we get those, that should be us done but those moves would also result in one or two going out.”
If a deal is done, Connelly would become Kilby’s fifth summer signing following the arrivals of midfielders Jack Leitch and Reegan Minnaugh, winger Broque Watson and centre-back Jordan McGregor last month.
