Dunfermline v Airdrie: Diamonds hero has sights set on Pars to stretch scoring run

Nikolay Todorov is gunning for former club Dunfermline on Saturday – but only because they’re Airdrie’s next opponents.

Bulgarian striker Todorov is on a run of three goals in as many games, having downed Championship leaders Raith Rovers on Saturday, and hopes to stretch that at East End Park on Saturday.

Todorov, 27, spent two years with the Pars before joining Airdrie, but insists that doesn’t come into his thinking at all.

He said: “I managed to score and I want to do it in the next one.

“I’m just delighted for the team, because we needed to go on a run and it’s brilliant to go on a scoring run as well.

“I don’t care who I play against – whether it’s Raith Rovers and Dundee United at the top, or anyone else.

“I have the same mentality in every game – I don’t think I want to score against certain teams.

“It will be a tough game, Dunfermline are always well organised and we’ve had a tough time against them the last few times.

“But we are in a good place and we are not scared of anyone.

“We can’t look too far ahead because football can switch quickly. Nothing is given.”

Todorov netted his sixth goal of the season in Saturday’s 1-0 win with a header from a Mason Hancock cross, and it’s his second against the Kirkcaldy club this term, having also scored in a 1-1 draw back in November.

He said: “The boys kept the clean sheet and gave me the platform.

“That’s three in three games, but I don’t get too far ahead of myself, I just want to do well for the team.

“We were on a bad run but we have done well in the last three games, and we just want to keep it going.

“Everyone is delighted, but we need to keep calm heads.

“I was delighted to score, but it was brilliant defending by the boys in the end, and there’s nothing better
