Dumfries and Galloway curlers to represent Scotland on the world stage
Dumfries and Galloway curlers have been chosen to represent Scotland on the world stage.
Grant Hardie, Hammy McMillan Jnr and Bobby Lammie will compete in the BKT Tires World Men’s Curling Championships in Moose Jaw, Canada next month.
And Sophie Jackson is on her way to the LGT World Women’s Curling Championships in Uijeongbu, South Korea.
However, the decision means that for the second year running Scotland’s men’s and women’s champs – captained by Dumfries’ Ross Whyte and Fay Henderson respectively – have not been chosen.
Kirkgunzeon’s Hardie and Stranraer duo McMillan Jnr and Lammie will be part of skip Bruce Moat’s rink.
The team won the title in 2023, narrowly missed out on a bronze medal last year, have won four European titles and also landed the silver medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
They were beaten in the final of this year’s Scottish championships at Dumfries Ice Bowl by Whyte’s rink, which also contained Euan Kyle of Leswalt.

Jackson from Dumfries – last year’s Scottish Mixed Curling Doubles champion – will be part of Rebecca Morrison’s team which also features Sophie Sinclair and Jen Dodds, who was a gold medal winner at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
The rink lost to Henderson’s team in the final of this year’s Scottish championships but were unable to progress to the play-off games at last year’s world championships.
The women’s tournament will run from March 15 to 23 with the men’s competition running from March 29 to April 6.
