Dumfries and Galloway crews set for final round of Scottish Rally Championship

The battle for the KNC Groundworks Scottish Rally Championship comes to its conclusion this weekend.

And Jock Armstrong heads into the Carlisle Stages Rally in the perfect position to claim his third crown.

The Castle Douglas driver and navigator Hannah McKillop currently top the standings in their Subaru Impreza, with rivals David Henderson and Chris Lees not far behind in second place.

Competition for victory on the rally will come from the Proton Satria of Mark McCulloch of Dumfries, who will again have Michael Hendry on the notes.

Also making the short trip across the border is the Mitsubishi Evo 9 of Angus Lawrie of Castle Douglas and Paul Gribben of Annan, as well as the Evo 8 of Castle Douglas’ Scott Peacock and Craig Wallace.

And Dalbeattie’s Iain Wilson will have Chris Williams alongside him in his Ford Fiesta Rally 2.

The Ford Escort Mk2 legion includes Bridge of Dee’s Donald Proudlock and Mairi Riddick of Dumfries, as well as Dumfries pair David Hardie and John McCulloch, Penpont’s Jimmy Robertson and Thornhill’s Mike Curry and Penpont’s Greg McKnight.

Dalbeattie’s Scott Gourlay and Greg Alcorn of Castle Douglas will be out in their Peugeot 205.

And Niall Cowan Snr from Dumfries is in an MG3 with Chris Wareham, as is Castle Douglas’ Alan McMorran.

The Carlisle Stages is based at H&H Auctions in Carlisle, with crews tackling two stages in Kielder Forest on Friday night.

They then return to Kielder for the rest of the action on Sunday.
