Duk and Richard Jensen left bleeding in Aberdeen chaos after 'miraculous' HJK red card escape as VAR swerves elbow

Aberdeen star Duk was left bleeding from his ear after being caught by an elbow from against HJK Helsinki. And Richard Jensen also took a gruesome-looking head injury in a blood and thunder first half.

Georgios Kanellopoulos went unpunished for an incident with Duk that left Steven Craigen stunned on commentary. Barry Robson brought Duk back into his team for the Conference League clash at Pittodrie but he took a sore one around the half hour mark when Kanellopoulos charged into a challenge and caught him in the side of the head with his elbow.

The on-field officials saw nothing wrong with it and were not pulled back by VAR but Duk was left on the deck for several minutes receiving treatment. He was seen bleeding from the ear and Craigen was left incensed as he said: "He's gone in there, he's led with his elbow. You cannot do that. It will be miraculous if he gets away with it."

Get away with it he did though and just minutes after play restarted Jensen took a sore one. He went up for a header and was left with a gushing cut that required lengthy treatment. Both players played on but the two blows led to TEN minutes of stoppage time at the end of the first half.
