Drumsagard produce five-star show to lift Scottish Youth Cup

Drumsagard 2007s lifted the Scottish Youth Cup with pride on Saturday following an emphatic 5-0 victory over Westdyke Community Club.

Held at Airdrie’s Excelsior Stadium, the U17s, led by coaches Mark Gray and Rab Mullen, along with David Singleton, were in fine form as goals from Lauchlan Greenan, Jay Donnelly (2), Dylan Mauchin and Stephen Kerr clinched the cup.

The lads amassed 39 goals on the road to the final, including a 3-3 draw with Peterhead in the semis that Drummy went on to win 4-3 during a tense penalty shoot-out.

Coach Mark Gray was delighted with the team’s determination and success and said: “I’m so happy for the lads. We knew they had the talent to do something special this season, and it’s easier said than done, but their hard work and determination has seen them come out on top against some fantastic teams.

“They have had another amazing season and to be crowned Scottish Cup champions is extremely special, so we’re all very proud. Every one of the lads was absolutely phenomenal – they were all man of the match for me. The hard work doesn’t stop there however, as we have two more cup finals to go in June.”
